Pleasant Grove staff presented an addendum to the city’s agreement with the Strawberry Days organization that would allow the group to hold up to six additional events annually and keep the revenue from those extra events while it repays a capital investment in rodeo seating and related improvements.
City staff said the addendum would not change the original Strawberry Days lease or rodeo arrangements. Under the proposal, Strawberry Days would continue to pay the city for police presence, permit fees and other event‑specific charges, but would not pay a facility rental fee for the additional events until the associated debt is retired. Once the debt is paid, the organization would be required to rent the facility like other users.
Staff noted the arrangement is intended to let the association recoup a significant private investment in facility upgrades while preserving the city’s standard event‑management requirements. Council members asked for clarification about what kinds of events the association might schedule to generate revenue; staff said the organization had not finalized the list and would remain subject to existing city special‑events policies.
No formal vote on the addendum was recorded during the work session; staff indicated the item would appear on the regular meeting packet for further action and review.
