The Town of Templeton Board of Health moved to appoint animal inspectors Tuesday and approved three inspectors, including two newly hired through the neighboring town of Winchendon.
Speaker 3 introduced the item and said the town shares animal‑inspector services with Winchendon and that Julia and Lisa were hired through Winchendon to replace Sarah and Jessica Lisonbee. "Julia and Lisa are new, but Winchendon is the hiring town," Speaker 3 said.
Sandra Tompkins introduced herself to the meeting and said, "I've actually been animal control. This will be my seventh year here with you guys too," adding that she lives in Winchendon but serves Templeton. Julia (first name only) said she started in October, trained during peak barn‑inspection season and has since been working independently; Lisa Hamill, introduced by name, said she was born and raised in Templeton and has long experience working with animals and volunteering at a local shelter.
Speaker 4 made the motion to accept the inspectors; the motion was seconded and the board indicated they were all in favor, approving the appointments. The board discussed whether the new inspectors should leave paperwork until swearing‑in and confirmed administrative follow‑up.
What happens next: The inspectors will be sworn in and will begin their duties; administrative paperwork will be completed with staff follow‑up.
