Hamilton Township trustees approve salt contract, private sale and roster changes

Hamilton Township trustees voted unanimously during their Jan. 21 regular meeting to approve several routine items, including a contract to buy road salt, the private sale of impounded property and updates to township staff rosters.

The board approved the clerk's journal and accepted the audio-video recording as the official minutes, then voted to approve bills presented to the board. Don, a public works representative, told trustees the township used about 350 tons of road salt in the most recent storm and estimated current inventory at roughly 75% capacity. Following that report, trustees approved Resolution 26-0203A, authorizing a contract with the Warren County Engineer's Office for road salt for the 2026-27 snow season.

Trustees also approved Resolution 26-0203B, authorizing the private sale of unneeded and unfit property from the police impound lot. The board approved amendments to the Hamilton Township roster after hearing that recruiting was underway for several positions and that a formal swearing-in for a promoted employee (Jordan) will be scheduled at an upcoming meeting.

All formal motions were moved by an unidentified trustee and seconded; recorded roll-call votes listed 'Yes' from Mister Souza, Mister Cordray and Mister Razi on the recorded motions. No abstentions or negative votes were recorded in the transcript.

Items not requiring formal action included a brief report that the township expects to plan its 2027 capital budget in coming months and that candidates have been identified for an open mechanic position.
