Contractor proposes premium matting to repair Discovery Park pickleball courts; council asks for local testing

He said, "this is a $200,000 application," characterizing the premium surfacing as costly but less expensive than full court replacement and more practical than repeated patch repairs.
Council members asked technical questions about whether cracks would telegraph through the mat, how the system handles joints and cold-weather conditions, and whether there are local or regional installations to test. Dustin said the system is used on premium sites internationally and that the contractor would check for nearby examples; staff agreed it would be prudent to have players test the surface before green-lighting a purchase.
Next steps: staff will attempt to identify any nearby installations, bring sample information and contractor references back to the council, and solicit feedback from local players and traveling professionals before returning with procurement recommendations. No formal action was taken at the session.
