Commissioners approve a package of contracts, renouncements and routine items including vehicle auction and pediatric consultant agreement

The board approved a set of routine items and additions to next week’s consent agenda: capital change orders ($28,128.52), design and small-construction contracts, authorization to advertise sale of county vehicles, renouncement of $273,912 in unneeded RACP phase 2 funds, an MOU for the Nittany Business Park to be added to consent, and consent additions for Mount Nittany contract and RSVP grant application.
The Centre County commissioners approved a slate of routine contracts, change orders, appointments and procedural items at the meeting.
Capital projects staff requested approval of coordination change orders for the new human services facility totaling $28,128.52. The board also reviewed and agreed to add design services with Pantera Engineering ($65,000) for retaining-wall and parking-lot improvements at the courthouse complex and a $3,363 contract with Warriors Mark Fencing for a maintenance gate at the Willowbank Building; commissioners moved to add these capital-project items to next week’s consent agenda.
Planning staff sought and received approval to renounce remaining Phase 2 RACP funds for the Grange Park Equine Center ($273,912), saying the subgrantee will not pursue Phase 2 and the funds will be redistributed. The board also accepted an MOU for the Nittany Business Park in Potter Township and agreed to add it to next week’s consent agenda. The MOU describes a five-lot subdivision, developer-built road to public standards and two proposed buildings.
Human services staff requested adding a $10,000 contract (county share $2,000) with Mount Nittany Medical Center Health Services Inc. for a pediatrician to serve on the Children & Youth multidisciplinary team; the board approved adding that contract to next week’s consent agenda. Aging staff also received approval to submit an RSVP AmeriCorps Seniors grant application for a three-year total of $547,755 if awarded.
Fleet staff asked to advertise the public auction of approximately 15 county vehicles at the Central Pennsylvania Auto Auction on Oct. 17, 2024, with costs not to exceed $6,500; the board approved the advertisement and contract. The board also appointed Heather Ischler to the Agricultural Land Preservation Board (term through 09/23/2027) and approved the routine check run dated 09/20/2024.
Most items were presented by staff, discussed briefly by commissioners and approved by motion for consent or added to next week’s consent agenda; vote tallies were taken by voice and recorded as motions carried.
