Gabriella Searcy, who identified herself as the mother of Gabriela Dixon, told the commission her daughter has been missing since Oct. 30 and asked what elected officials "can do" to aid the Bibb County Sheriff's Department and raise public attention to the search. "What have you all done in order to aid the Bibb County Sheriff's Department in the search for my child?" Searcy asked, describing frustration with what she characterized as blame shifting and limited communication.
Other family members and supporters spoke as well. Carlin Lester urged officials and neighbors to step up and referenced examples of multi‑county cooperation elsewhere. A man who identified as Reginald Dixon described the emotional toll on the family, said the family had been given little information about the investigation and urged officials to provide answers.
In response, the presiding official expressed sympathy and said the commission and its members are praying for the family. The chair said commissioners have discussed resources with Sheriff Anita Howard and that the sheriff "has provided as much update as he can without compromising the investigation." The chair emphasized that the commission cannot release investigative details in open forum if doing so would hinder prosecution.
The exchange did not produce a formal vote or directive; family members asked for clarity and for officials to use their platforms to ensure the investigation receives attention and appropriate resources.
