Clawson — The Clawson City Council on Feb. 3 approved a suite of routine items including special-event permits, the purchase of a replacement utility vehicle, multiple board appointments and the bills list totaling $959,641.83.
Event permits
- The Clawson Lions Club was authorized to hold its annual downtown car show (date confirmed by staff as Aug. 8, 2026). Council discussed insurance and indemnification language and required the Lions to include a hold-harmless clause on participant registration forms. - The council approved a street closure for Gus Snug Irish Pub’s third annual St. Patrick’s celebration (March 17) and amended the approval to require neighborhood notification in advance of the closure; staff and public-safety departments had conditionally approved the closure pending council action. - The Clawson Youth Assistance’s Trick-or-Treat Trail at Clawson City Park (Oct. 18, 2026) was approved subject to standard hold-harmless terms.
Equipment purchase
Council approved the purchase of a Kubota V-series diesel 4x4 utility vehicle with attachments from Carlton Farm Supply for $45,584.69 to be funded from the motor pool fund (motor pool balance cited by staff at approximately $275,000). Staff said the existing Bobcat has had frequent repairs and that the new vehicle has an expected service life of roughly 15–20 years and typically carries a three-year factory warranty.
Board appointments and reappointments
Council approved several board actions: reappointment of Annie Fenton to the Board of Ethics (term to 09/15/2028), appointment of Paul Alexopoulos and alternates Adam Lane and Scott Manning to the Zoning Board of Appeals, and reappointments to the Board of Review including Ralph Haney, Jeff Heng and Vince McBride (terms to 12/31/2026). One reappointment prompted council discussion after an email of concern arrived that morning; council approved with a caveat to monitor the issue.
Bills list
Council approved a bills list in the amount of $959,641.83 following a brief accounting and line-item discussion.
