The Rockingham County Board of Commissioners used a June 16 recap to recognize two community figures and to share meeting logistics. Vice Chairman Houston Barrow announced recognition of William Bottoms Jr. for life‑saving efforts in April, noting Bottoms serves as a lieutenant with the Monroeton Fire Department and that many of his colleagues attended the recognition.
Barrow also announced recognition of Rodney Stewart for 32 years of service with Rockingham County Emergency Services and said Stewart will be retiring. Commissioners expressed appreciation and wished Stewart well in his retirement.
