Board approves consent calendar, renews memberships and appoints Mark Aranda as senior director

The Chula Vista Elementary School District board approved a series of consent items and personnel actions during Monday’s meeting.

After trustee discussion and a small number of items pulled for review, the board approved the consent calendar by roll call. The board approved contracting with an outside investigative firm at an hourly rate specified in the contract for independent investigative services and authorized routine maintenance and service contracts (including vehicle repainting to meet CHP color standards) and a renewal of membership in the Coalition for Adequate School Housing (CASH).

In a report from Dr. Angela Rosendale, the board announced internal promotions and introduced Mark Aranda as the newly approved senior director of facilities, planning, maintenance and operations. Rosendale said Aranda comes from Orange Unified School District with experience in construction management, facilities project management, maintenance and operations; Aranda thanked the board for the opportunity.

The board also approved procedural items including access to school accountability report cards (staff agreed to provide PDFs or links to trustees) and set follow‑up reporting timelines for grant applications connected to collaborative programs (for example, a teacher residency grant application in collaboration with the University of San Diego). Several motions carried unanimously; one consent vote recorded a single nay on a specific resignation item by Trustee Dominguez Cervantes.
