Human Relations Commission honors volunteer Esther Knockel

Ancie Joe Douglas, chair of the Human Relations Commission, presented the commission’s Honor Roll Award to Esther Knockel in recognition of sustained volunteer service in Bowling Green and Wood County.
"The honor roll award applauds individuals, organizations and local businesses who work to promote diversity, to improve the well-being of persons in need and to make the Bowling Green community a welcoming place for all people," Ancie Joe Douglas said, noting Knockel’s work with Wood County Area Ministries, the Wood County Homeless Coalition and Project Connect. Douglas said Knockel has been active in volunteer service since retiring from a career as a librarian in 2009 and highlighted her leadership in emergency financial assistance programs and resource coordination.
Knockel accepted thanks from the council; the presentation listed family members in attendance and described Knockel’s community ties.
