An applicant representative (Speaker 8) described the project and the proposed as-built and proposed floor plans. Staff (Speaker 3) said the design drawings were submitted but the plan review remained open because two text items related to occupancy and use required revision; the design itself was not flagged for structural changes. Speaker 3 said the plan has not yet been approved by the county building department.
Reviewers discussed exterior materials and placement to preserve historic character. Speaker 2 asked whether the addition’s roof would match the original metal roof; Speaker 8 said it would and that the siding would be designed to look like pine while using more permanent materials for durability. Speaker 3 and others recommended placing the addition to the rear/north side and suggested modest differentiation between historic fabric and the new work to preserve massing and orientation.
Speaker 7 moved to approve the board’s recommendation supporting the permit application; the motion was seconded, and attending members voted in favor by voice. The board’s action was limited to recommending approval; final permitting remains with the county building department and any outstanding verbiage issues must be resolved as part of plan review.
The applicant thanked the board and indicated hope that construction can proceed once county approvals and any required verbiage edits are completed.
