Board hears recommended nonresident tuition increase to $13,667 for regular education

Renee Ewing, the division's chief financial officer (Speaker 8), told the board that the recommended regular-education nonresident tuition rate for FY25 is $13,667, an increase of $689 (5.3%) over FY24. The recommended base special-education nonresident tuition rate is $23,239, a $637 increase (2.8%). Ewing noted that the special-education number is a base rate and additional costs for individual services such as speech therapy or occupational/physical therapy would be added depending on students' needs.
"The recommended tuition rate for regular education is $13,667 which is an increase of $689 or 5.3% over fiscal year 24," Ewing said, explaining that the calculations are based on the adopted FY25 budget and the same methodology the division has used in prior years.
The board asked clarifying questions about the presentation and was told final approval is scheduled for the August 6 meeting.
