The Township High School District 211 Board of Education approved several business and personnel items during its January meeting.
Contracts and purchases: The board awarded the procurement of propane school buses to Central State Bus Sales Inc. for $979,520 as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder after administration said only one propane bid met specifications (other bidders quoted diesel). The board also authorized a dependent-audit contract with a vendor (base cost reported as $41,060; supplemental fees not to exceed $7,500) for a total not to exceed $48,560 as recommended by Chief Operating Officer Lauren Hummel and Helen Miller, director of insurance and group benefits.
Board travel and reimbursements: Trustees approved preapproval of expense reimbursement for Stephen Rosenblum and Jane Russell to attend an Ed-Board legislative dinner on Jan. 26, 2026; a trustee asked whether sending two members to the same conference could be reduced to save costs.
Personnel actions: In subsequent roll-call action the board approved several personnel items: acceptance of the retirement request of Lucita Hathaway effective May 2026; a two-day suspension for employee Maria Bowman (board directed the secretary to notify the employee in writing); and appointments effective July 1, 2026 — including Bridal Burlman as athletic director at Hoffman Estates High School at an annual gross salary of $159,495 and Lashonda Sandifer as associate principal at William Fremd High School at an annual gross salary of $166,000.
What to watch: Administration said details of supplemental audit fees and how the bus specifications were evaluated are in the administrative recommendation and bid documents. The board passaged these motions by roll call as part of routine business.
