Tammy Santasepen requested permission to place a red memorial bench at Timpanogos Park for her son and said the bench would be fabricated by Smith Steelworkers in Spanish Fork; staff said the city has an internal policy for park memorials and will follow up with Public Works to review the request.
Representatives of a gas-supply firm told the council Orem could realize roughly $90,000 in annual savings by re-entering a third-party supplier TS program for the recreation center and wastewater plant. Staff said they would review previous reasons the city left the program before engaging further.
A longtime Orem resident raised safety concerns about large commercial rigs and tradespeople unloading vehicles in travel lanes on State Street and Center Street, urging enforcement or ordinance changes to prohibit on-street unloading where it endangers traffic.
Another resident, who owns family property occupied by his son, asked how the city's new landlord-licensing requirement applies to intra-family arrangements; staff offered to connect him with the finance director to assess licensing and income-tax implications.
City staff committed to follow-up on each item and to provide the petitioners with next steps.
