Committee approves engineering amendments for Aurora airfield lighting vault project

The Bill, Zoning and Economic Development Committee voted Feb. 10 to approve resolution 25-0981, authorizing amendments to engineering agreements for the airfield lighting vault rehabilitation at Aurora Municipal Airport.
Steve Andress, Airport Division, explained the project was previously bid but the originally selected contractor did not complete state contract requirements within the required time frame. "Hecker won that contract, but they never received a completed contract or signed contract with the state within the 90 day, required period," Andress said, and the project was rebid. Because additional engineering work is required, staff requested amendments to the design- and construction-phase agreements.
Andress said this is a standard grant project in which the city pays 5% of total project costs. He noted the city's share for the entire project is $65,000 and the city would be reimbursed once the project is complete.
A motion to approve the resolution was made, seconded and passed unanimously in committee. The resolution will proceed through the city's contract-execution procedures and is tied to a state division of aeronautics grant-program project.
