Committee advances repeal of Packer Avenue overlay in stadium area

Paula Brumbelow Burns, director of legislation for the Philadelphia City Planning Commission, testified that bill 251,031 would repeal bill 241,055 (the PAK Packer Avenue Overlay) and change zoning in the stadium area bounded by Packer Avenue, 7th Street, Pattison Avenue and Darien Street from CMX-3 commercial mixed use back to I-2 medium industrial. Brumbelow Burns said the repeal would better align the site’s zoning with the Lower South District plan goals for the western section of the port area.
The committee had no questions for the witness during the public-hearing portion. Later in the public meeting the Rules Committee adopted amendments on several bills and reported 251,031, as part of a package, out of committee with a favorable recommendation and requested first reading at the next council session.
What happens next: the full council will receive the committee’s favorable report and consider the ordinance at first reading per the committee’s motion.
