Tina, presenting the item, said the Strawberry Days Association and the Rodeo Committee "decided they were going to front the money to do that to the tune of about $2,000,000," describing the funds as intended for new bleachers and related facility improvements. Under the addendum, the association may conduct up to six additional events outside the Strawberry Days calendar year (not including the Strawberry Days rodeo) and retain the revenue from those events to repay the loan. The association will still pay for police services, parks department time and any overtime connected with those events, and must provide adequate parking pursuant to normal special‑event requirements.
The city will not charge the association rental fees for the rodeo grounds until the debt is repaid; the addendum allows future revenue‑sharing discussions after the debt is satisfied. Councilmember Lamone moved to approve the resolution authorizing the mayor to sign addendum No. 1, Councilmember Williams seconded, and the council approved the measure by roll‑call vote; the mayor announced unanimous approval.
