APD expands SharePoint storage, CPRC presses for verification of full case-file access

Acting Chair Vice Chair Commissioner Franco opened the Community Police Review Commission meeting with a staff briefing on accessing APD case files.
An APD technology staff member told commissioners the Police Technology Unit had encountered SharePoint storage limits (previously about 30–40 gigabytes) that prevented some case files and body-worn camera footage from appearing in the CPRC drive. “We were able to get 1 terabyte on there,” the staff member said, adding that the missing materials were reuploaded so reviewers could access them.
Commissioners responded with procedural and oversight questions. Commissioner Pena thanked staff for the prompt work but, along with others, asked how the commission can be sure it is receiving full case files rather than a curated subset. “Is that how you understand it too presently?” a commissioner asked, pressing whether the CPRC’s view is a separate copy rather than the internal database itself.
APD staff said the agency transfers the entire internal-affairs case file and that only CJIS-protected information would be redacted. The staff member offered to develop a “checks-and-balances” practice to allow the CPRC to verify completeness.
Commissioners emphasized the need for an auditable verification process. One commissioner noted the difference between having view access to a copy and being able to confirm that every document and piece of collected evidence has been included.
The briefing concluded with staff offering follow-up support and commissioners thanking staff for the update.
