Darren Lozano, senior vice president of environment and project development, told the board that ATP “received our record of decision related to the [environmental impact statement]” and thanked project partners including CapMetro and the Federal Transit Administration for their roles in completing the review. Board members offered applause and congratulatory remarks, describing the ROD as an unprecedented achievement following the project’s high project rating.
The board memorialized the milestone by approving a supporting resolution moved by Board Member Garza and seconded by Mayor Watson. The resolution passed unanimously. Board members said the ROD advances the project toward future procurement, design milestones and federal grant steps that follow NEPA clearance.
The action does not in itself commit ATP to any immediate construction contracts; Lozano and other staff described the ROD as a regulatory milestone that allows ATP to proceed with subsequent project phases, including procurement for operations and maintenance and vehicle procurements.
