"Aggravated assaults have declined 11% since last year and remain well below the five‑year average," Chief Anderson said in a quarterly briefing. He said homicides have "decreased significantly over a one‑year period," and that many property‑crime categories are at or below long‑term averages. Motor‑vehicle theft, he said, has dropped about 18% over one year.
