Knox County commissioners set CDBG hearing, approve several routine items and enter executive session for pre-audit

At the Feb. 3 Knox County commissioners session, the board approved a slate of routine county items and voted to move into executive session for a pre-audit conference with state auditors.
Speaker 4 moved to approve the advertisement for Public Hearing No. 1 for the 2026 Knox County Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program; the board set the public hearing for March 24 at 10:30 a.m. in the Commissioners’ Offices.
Speaker 4 also presented the Knox County Prosecutor’s equitable-sharing agreement and certification report for 2025, a federal Department of Justice form. Speaker 4 said the form appeared to contain no reportable proceeds and that the prosecutor’s annual budget is shown on the form as $695,001.32. Speaker 5 moved to approve the certification; the motion was seconded and approved.
The board approved the Ohio Department of Transportation’s 2025 County Highway System mileage certification, which the record lists as 399.61 miles of county roads (the prior mileage reported as 399.083). A commissioner noted the mileage certification is used to allocate state funding for county roads.
Speaker 4 presented and the board approved a grant agreement with the Ohio Department of Children and Youth for use by Knox County Department of Job and Family Services and the local Children First Council to administer pooled funds under state guidelines.
Before adjourning to a closed session, the board noted a set of bills and minutes ready for signature. Speaker 5 moved and Speaker 2 seconded a motion to go into executive session for a pre-audit conference with the state auditors; Jason was asked to call the roll. Commissioners answered in the affirmative and the board entered an executive session; the public broadcast was terminated for the closed session.
No formal policy changes or contract awards were recorded during the open meeting; the actions taken were approvals of routine procedural and certification items and scheduling of the CDBG public hearing.
