Sambrano said the department received the first allotment of 2026 CSBG funding — “about $382,000” — and that the 2025 contract was nearly fully expended. She reported that from January through December the program had assisted almost 600 people and 262 households with nearly $800,000 in rent assistance and that the public‑health nursing program had delivered its highest seasonal vaccination total through November.
Sambrano described operational impacts and upcoming scheduling: South Austin neighborhood center remains closed for extensive HVAC and other renovations and is expected to reopen in May; Rosewood closed temporarily and is slated to reopen in February. She said the department is conducting open houses at centers (Blackland and Montopolis among them) to help partner agencies learn about services; commissioners asked staff to provide a calendar of open houses and volunteer onboarding steps.
In Q&A, commissioners asked for clearer legends and numeric labels on story‑map visuals, for a transportation layer on planned displacement and change maps, and for details about navigator and capacity‑building programs. Sambrano said navigator positions will be part‑time and that the department will circulate more detailed materials and links to evaluations (including an external evaluation of the pilot) and a calendar of community events for commissioners to share with constituents.
