Hampton Township OKs fitness equipment, lighting, mower and trail engineering; paves way for multiple capital projects

Hampton Township council approved several capital purchases and moved forward multiple park and facilities projects during its regular meeting.
Council authorized the facilities director to purchase new fitness equipment from G and G Fitness for $236,537.18 from the capital improvements fund, with installation targeted to coincide with the end of the school year in June. Community services described a three-week installation window and noted the fire marshal had approved the fitness-area layout.
Separately, council approved the release of up to $90,000 in capital funds to upgrade community center lighting. Staff explained final lighting totals for selected items came to $58,725 with contingency dollars included and said the lighting work would be scheduled to coordinate with the fitness equipment installation.
The council also authorized purchase of a replacement boom mower from Stephenson Equipment for $200,562.92 with a one-year warranty and a field break-in service included. Public works staff answered questions about warranty coverage and service inclusions before the vote.
On parks and trails, council approved up to $50,000 for preliminary engineering, surveys and resident outreach for Phase 1 of the Hampton Northwest Trail, and authorized the assistant manager to advertise bids for the community park trail paving project with a possible award at the March meeting. Staff said the paving scope intends to include the full trail around the pond but that a separate segment around the pond could be treated as a contingency to control costs.
Each purchase and authorization passed by roll call with all present members voting in favor. Staff said they will return with bid documents, installation schedules and any required outreach before final awards or construction.
