Seneca County approves supplemental appropriations, youth-center security contract and Port Authority reappointment

TIFIN — At its Feb. 3 meeting, the Seneca County Board of Commissioners approved several routine financial actions and resolutions by roll call.

County administration reported January figures and recommended supplemental appropriations for capital projects. The county administrator said the county collected just over $1.8 million in revenue in January and expended about $3.2 million, noting that much of the month’s spending represented 2025 encumbrances carried into 2026.

The board approved supplemental appropriations including $29,790 for duct sealing at the county jail, a change order of roughly $47,070 to adjust duct size and heating at the youth center, and a capital improvement appropriation of $294,902 for Orianna House under the community-based corrections facility fund. A motion to approve supplemental appropriations passed on a unanimous roll call.

The commissioners also adopted a resolution authorizing a contract with Securitas Technology Corporation for intercom/camera/server upgrades at the Seneca County Youth Center. County staff said the project is primarily grant-funded and the county would provide approximately a 40% local match. The resolution passed on a roll-call vote.

Finally, the board reappointed Randy Weiser to the Sandusky‑Seneca County/Tiffin Port Authority board for a term expiring March 1, 2030; that resolution also passed by roll call.

All recorded votes during these agenda items were unanimous in favor of the measures. The board closed routine business and adjourned.
