Residents ask council for event support, pothole repairs and firefighter pay

Witte said the event could provide cultural enrichment and an economic boost for Calimesa.
Floyd Ferguson, who said he has a background running Scottish games commercially in Southern California, described planned attractions including caber‑toss demonstrations, a kilted mile and band performances, and noted that tickets are available on a Givebutter page.
Dr. Divina Rivera raised quality‑of‑life issues: she urged the council to address numerous potholes on Calimesa Boulevard — saying she had used an auto‑club card to assist residents with tire damage — and urged the council to consider a pay increase for Calimesa’s firefighters, recounting personal experiences with local firefighters and describing the job’s hazards.
Council thanked speakers and acknowledged the concerns; staff and relevant departments were identified as the points of follow‑up for infrastructure and personnel matters.
