The Madison County Board of Commissioners heard bid openings for a bridge project on Feb. 3. County staff read four sealed bids and compared them to the internal cost estimate of $1,616,000.
Bids announced by staff were: Complete General Construction — $1,819,530.14 (apparent low bid); Eagle Bridge Company — $1,875,500.00; Chelan Sands Inc. — $1,925,446.00; and Ohio Bridge Corporation — $1,937,649.79. Staff noted the low bid exceeds the estimate and said they will review the bids and hope to return a recommendation to the board next week.
Commissioners asked procedural questions about rebidding where a prior attempt had yields very low or problematic bids and discussed timing of construction. County staff said the likely closure for a related bridge would be about 20 days and could begin after July 1, subject to scheduling and permitting.
No contract award vote occurred at the meeting; staff will return with a recommendation after vetting bids and documentation.
