Thurston County schedules hearings on property-management code, Sexton Drive closure; board reviews advisory-board appointments

The Thurston County Board of County Commissioners on Feb. 3 updated its February agenda, scheduled two public hearings and discussed recommended advisory-board appointments during a short work session.
The board added a dollar amount to a consent item, noting the purchase price of $250,000 will be included on Consent Item 2. The meeting also set two public hearings for 3:30 p.m.: one to consider amending Thurston County Code chapter 22.104, concerning comprehensive property-management procedures, and another on a temporary partial road closure for Sexton Drive Northwest.
Staff reported the Medical and EMS Council recommended reappointing Tom Carroll to his resident-at-large seat after reviewing his application at its January meeting; staff asked that the reappointment be placed on the board’s next agenda as a consent item. Separately, the Veterans Advisory Board recommended appointing Nanette Arcuri to one of three current vacancies after interviewing her in January.
Commissioner Klaus said she had not reviewed Arcuri’s application and requested a day or two to do so. Staff offered to email the application materials and to return the Veterans Advisory Board appointment to the agenda next week. No formal votes or motions were taken during the work session.
The board noted there were no commissioner items and the county manager had no additional business before the meeting moved on. The items scheduled at the work session — the consent calendar updates, the two public hearings and the advisory-board appointments — are expected to appear on the board’s February agenda for final action or further consideration.
