Planning Commission retains current chair and vice chair; staff notes PUD rezoning going to City Commission

At its Feb. 3 meeting, the Winter Haven Planning Commission re-elected its current chair and vice chair by voice vote and a staff member said a January PUD amendment (rezoning from PUD to C-3 on US 27 near Cypress Gardens Boulevard) will go to the City Commission this month.
The Winter Haven Planning Commission conducted its annual election of officers during the Feb. 3, 2026 meeting and voted to retain the existing chair and vice chair.
A staff member reviewed the bylaws, noting there are no term limits and that commissioners with at least one year of service are eligible to hold office. A commissioner moved "to keep the chairs and keep them the same," the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. The chair congratulated the vice chair after the vote.
During staff comments, an unnamed staff member reported that a January PUD amendment—rezoning from PUD to C-3 near US 27 and Cypress Gardens Boulevard—will proceed to the City Commission this month and is expected to conclude by the end of the month. No commissioners or members of the public offered additional comments before the meeting was adjourned.
