Commissioners approve consent agenda; clerk outlines early voting schedule; executive session held with no action

The Miami County Board of Commissioners opened its Oct. 15 meeting with routine business, approving the consent agenda unanimously, receiving election information from the County Clerk, and holding a brief executive session.

A commissioner moved to approve the consent agenda as presented; Commissioner Vaughn was recorded as the mover and Commissioner Dideker as the seconder. Chair called the vote and announced unanimous approval.

County Clerk (staff) reported that early voting is open at the Administration Building (first floor) Monday–Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with extended hours until 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23, and Tuesday, Oct. 28. The clerk also said there will be early voting at the County Clerk’s Office from 8 a.m. to noon on Nov. 1 (Saturday). The clerk said all 13 polling locations will be open on Election Day and directed voters to voterview.org to view ballot samples and find their specific ballot type.

Later in the meeting, a commissioner (Shane) requested a 15-minute executive session under KSA 75-4319(b)(4) ‘‘dealing with confidential data relating to the financial affairs or trade secrets of a corporation, partnership, trust, or individual proprietorship.’’ Chair moved to grant the request, Commissioner Vaughn seconded, and the board recessed for the executive session beginning at 1:25 p.m. The board returned at 1:40 p.m. and the chair announced there was no action taken following executive session before adjourning.
