Miami County honors third-quarter employees and names director of the quarter

Miami County commissioners recognized July, August and September employees of the month and named Eric Sandberg director of the quarter, citing cross-department teamwork, client service and long tenure.
Miami County commissioners used their Oct. 15 meeting to recognize the county’s third-quarter employees and to name a director of the quarter.
Sarah Denny, Miami County human resources director, presented awards for July, August and September and explained the program—established in 2014—to honor employees who demonstrate customer service, selflessness and contributions that advance the county mission. ‘‘The primary criteria for the award is demonstrating actions in areas of customer service, selflessness, and actions that support and advance the Miami County mission,’’ Denny said.
Kim Loehrbs was named July employee of the month. Denny noted Loehrbs began with Miami County in June 2019, worked in the motor vehicle office and clerk’s office, and has served as a Field Appraiser I since July 2024. Sandra Lucas, Loehrbs’s director, said Loehrbs’s cross-department knowledge and willingness to help other offices made the nomination meaningful. Loehrbs said she was ‘‘really excited’’ about the move to the appraiser’s office and thanked coworkers.
Shannon Gaboni, care resource coordinator in the health department, was recognized for August. Denny and a colleague described Gaboni’s ‘‘humility, compassion and empathy’’ in client work and her role connecting people to services; Gaboni thanked her team and said she was ‘‘honored to be a Miami County employee as well as a health department employee.’’
Darren Ramsey of Road and Bridge was named September employee of the month. Denny highlighted Ramsey’s long service—employed since April 1983—and his department’s role assisting election logistics by transporting and securing equipment. Colleagues praised his institutional knowledge; Ramsey accepted the recognition with brief remarks and lighthearted comments about the timing of the honor.
The board also named Eric Sandberg, Road and Bridge director since August 2023, director of the quarter. Denny and colleagues credited Sandberg’s communication with staff, safety emphasis and willingness to assist other departments. Sandberg said he appreciated the nomination and singled out support from Bruce Morgan in the noxious-weed department.
The board invited the awardees and staff for group photos and congratulated all recipients. The recognitions preceded staff reports and other meeting business.
