Box Elder planning commission approves All American Sales fireworks license, requires building inspection

The City of Box Elder Planning Commission on May 13 approved an annual fireworks sales license for All American Sales Inc., which operates from a permanent structure at 4705 South I‑90 Service Road, and conditioned the permit on a city building code compliance inspection.

Michelle Clavadach, a planner with the City of Box Elder, told the commission the property was recently annexed and therefore must obtain the city fireworks sales license. "This is an application for the tan building with the red roof out there on the South I‑90 Service Road that has the extreme fireworks signage on it," Clavadach said. She explained annual fireworks sales licenses must be for a permanent structure that meets current building codes and that the business must also hold the required state licenses.

Clavadach recommended approval "with the condition that the building code compliance inspection by the city of Box Elder... is required before that license is actually issued to them." Commissioners asked whether the inspection had been scheduled; Clavadach said it had not and noted the operator planned to begin operating on June 10, giving time to complete the inspection.

A motion to approve the license with that condition was made, seconded and passed by unanimous roll call. The vote included affirmative votes from commissioners recorded in the meeting roll call.

Next steps: the city must complete the required building code compliance inspection before issuance of the license. The commission did not record any dissent or further conditions at the meeting.
