R.O.B. hears caseload numbers, five-year SAMHSA award; authorizes up to $5,000 to local Recovery Foundation

Lori Flippo told the board the county’s recovery program currently serves 186 people across multiple court and treatment tracks and is seeing capacity limits in mental-health court, which has moved to a wait list due to full case managers.
“We currently have a 186 people in our program,” Flippo said, listing 56 people in court, 25 in the day DUI program, 22 in the evening DUI program, 63 in mental-health court (waitlisted) and 20 in veterans court. She reported seven graduations and four terminations during September.
Flippo also announced the program was awarded a SAMHSA grant that will provide funding for services, occupational therapy, job training opportunities and staff training over the next five years. Board members discussed a local fundraiser organized by the Recovery Corp/Foundation (Copper Ridge, Oct. 24) and the chair sought permission to consider a county donation.
Commissioner Peay moved that the board authorize spending up to $5,000 in support of the Recovery Foundation’s fundraiser, pending staff due diligence on the event and paperwork; the motion was seconded and approved by roll call.
Next steps: staff will circulate event materials and follow up with a formal request if the board decides to disburse funds.
