A newly introduced statewide program coordinator told the Rutherford County opioid-abatement board she expects to oversee two staff dedicated to local grants and to be the supervisor for additional grant-supported positions as the office fills out its staffing roster.
She said central office processing has delayed the formal statewide contract but confirmed the team will present a grantee workshop at Middle Tennessee State University on Nov. 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. “This is something that Sarah and I are working on putting together right now on November 18 from 9 to 3 at MTSU,” the coordinator said, describing the session as technical assistance for prospective statewide applicants.
The coordinator outlined a multi-step schedule: local quarterly reports due Oct. 15, workshops in April, cycle 1 applications in March/April 2025 with funding recommendations to the board in June 2025, hotspot mapping and story-mapping work, a gap analysis late 2024/early 2025, and ongoing post-award templates and grantee training.
Board members asked about federal and state funding windows; the coordinator said most opportunities will reopen near the top of the year and committed to consult with interim staff to identify grant opportunities. Staff plans to compile the Oct. 15 quarterly reports and present Q1 reporting at the next board meeting.
