Lincoln County Auditor Sherry Lynn presented the proposed 2027 budget calendar Feb. 3 and the Board of Commissioners approved the schedule.
Lynn said department and program presentations will occur February through April, material change requests (for new employees, vehicles or software) must be submitted by April 15, and budget worksheets are due April 30. The budget committee will peer-review worksheets in early May, with department-liaison meetings following; the auditor's countywide presentation is scheduled for June, a provisional adoption is planned for July 28, the required public hearing is the first Tuesday in September, and final adoption is set for Sept. 22.
"That's when your department heads will come in to you, talk to you about what they're gonna need for 2027," Lynn said when describing the February–April presentation window. Commissioners praised the clearer timeline and commended the auditor for restructuring the process.
The board approved the calendar by roll call vote during the meeting; the approval advances the county into the formal 2027 budget planning cycle.
