Wayne County recesses two public hearings on school financing and rezoning until Feb. 4

That figure appears in the meeting text and will be clarified by staff at the follow‑up presentation; staff emphasized the middle school property would be the only collateral for the borrowing (not the elementary school).
The second hearing was a rezoning request for 2.817 acres in Grantham Township (northeast corner of Paul Harrow Road and U.S. Highway 13 South, tax parcel 2546734961) to change the designation from community shopping to R-10. Planning staff summarized the proposal, explained adjacent land uses, and said the request was advertised and posted; no members of the public had signed up to speak during the Feb. 3 session. Both hearings were recessed to permit the board to complete other business and to give the public an opportunity to attend the Feb. 4 session.
Next steps: Davenport will present financing proposals and the board will take action on the borrowing request at the recessed session; the rezoning hearing will resume at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow to accept additional public comment before a future decision.
