Summary
Lawmakers introduced special guests including Rob Lavera, retiring CEO of Lafayette Industries, and the clerk read three bills on first reading: HB 3107 (Olyrking), HB 3108 (Sasseman) and HB 3109 (Lucas).
Members of the Missouri House of Representatives introduced a string of special guests during the morning session, and the clerk read three bills on first reading.
The member from Saint Louis County District 88 introduced Rob Lavera, CEO and executive director of Lafayette Industries, and noted Lavera will retire as CEO at the end of 2025 and remain in an advisory role through the organization's 50th anniversary in 2026. The representative said Lafayette grew from about 185 employees to more than 450 across three locations and operates programs including Step Up and a newly launched retirement activity day center called Legacy.
Other introductions included a visiting group from the Missouri Society of CPAs attending "CPA Day at the Capitol," constituents Dave and Sandy Lichty, Care to Learn CEO Crystal Simon and VP Melissa Ray (which the representative said serves 24 counties and 58 school districts), members of the Missouri Circuit Clerk's Association, and nominees for the Missouri Board of Optometry: Dr. Kelly Frisella, Scott Frisella and Dr. Carrie Haruza.
On first reading, the clerk read House Bill 3107, introduced by Olyrking, "an act relating to written guidance for financial institutions"; House Bill 3108, introduced by Sasseman, "an act relating to homemade food"; and House Bill 3109, introduced by Lucas, "an act relating to conduct of the public at the Capitol Building with penalty provisions." Each bill was placed on first reading; no committee referrals or votes were recorded in the transcript excerpt.
