Budget committee approves $3M cash-flow amendment and five school federal funding reallocations

The Budget Committee voted to approve a budget amendment moving $3,000,000 from the county general fund into the general capital projects fund to cover cash-flow needs for four utility-district projects and the new health-department construction while the county awaits state reimbursements, Director Markham said. The transfer was presented as a cash-management step to keep local contractors paid and projects on schedule; members approved the amendment by voice vote.
Separately, Director Markham presented five federal-school funding adjustments to be acted on by the school board next Thursday. The reassignments were described as reallocations within existing federal subfunds (examples include a $427.48 Title I allocation, a $39.75 Title II adjustment, a $2,256 Title IV reallocation, a $31,000 special-education midyear reallocation, and a $6,251 Carl Perkins reallocation). The budget committee approved the package on the condition that the school board also approve the amendments.
Both actions were approved in committee; members requested the county finance office maintain documentation for reimbursements and contingency planning.
