City manager lists upcoming meetings, public events and new ambulance capability

City Manager John delivered routine announcements and a short calendar of upcoming items.
He reminded the council that the next meeting will be Tuesday, Feb. 17 (offices closed Feb. 16 for Presidents' Day), and highlighted several meetings: the Human Relations Commission on Feb. 5, the Historic Preservation Commission on Feb. 11, and a joint city-county planning meeting on Feb. 9. He noted petitions for mayor and one council seat are due March 24.
John also said the city will hold a Feb. 11 press conference to describe a new ambulance capability: Vermillion’s ambulance service is the first in the state to offer blood products and staff will explain how the program works. He announced a Kidder Street closure Feb. 14 for the Polar Plunge and said the city is participating in a regional 'Safe Streets for All' planning effort to collect public comments for possible grant funding.
