Utah House honors Beaver Creamery for rural economic contribution

The Utah House of Representatives authorized the Speaker to sign a citation honoring the Beaver Creamery of Beaver County on Feb. 3 for its contribution to local agriculture and the rural economy. Representative Albrecht moved the citation during a personal-privilege recognition on the House floor and introduced the creamery’s managers.
"The Creamery began as a local cheese shop and has grown into a destination," Representative Albrecht said, thanking managers Matt Robison (general manager), Matt Wilden (plant manager) and Cole Sorensen (retail manager) for their work. Albrecht told colleagues the creamery was founded in 1952, employs about 90 people and draws more than 1,000,000 visitors a year. He said sales at the facility’s expanded plant have increased more than 125% since November 2018.
The citation commends the creamery for sourcing milk from local farms, supporting generational farming, strengthening the farm-to-table economy and contributing to rural employment. The motion to authorize the Speaker to sign the citation passed by voice vote.
The citation will be signed by the Speaker and by Senator Vickers, who Albrecht noted was born and raised in Beaver and will handle the Senate side of the recognition.
