The United Nations reported that recent strikes in Ukraine killed civilians, injured dozens and damaged energy infrastructure across eight regions. Spokespeople said some 2,000 high-rise residential buildings in Kyiv, Kharkiv and Dnipro were without heating, and many other regions were experiencing temporary power outages.
UN humanitarian colleagues described expanded measures to help civilians cope with heating and power losses: aid organizations are providing first aid and psychological support, setting up warming points where people can get heat, hot meals and charge devices, and UN agencies are supplying generators and other relief items. The briefing also described a convoy that delivered food, medicines, hygiene supplies and solar lamps to residents of the frontline community of Antonivka in Kherson.
The UN said constraints on access and ongoing clashes limit delivery capacity but agencies remain engaged in expanding treatment capacity and preparing vaccination campaigns where needed.
