The UN reported that peacekeepers on patrol in southern Lebanon observed two drones hovering near them in the Kafar Khela sector East. One drone carrying an unidentified object entered a range assessed as an immediate threat; peacekeepers took defensive action, after which the drone dropped a stun grenade about 50 meters away flying south toward Israeli territory. No injuries were reported and the patrol continued.
The briefing said UNIFIL supported Lebanese authorities to collect samples north of the Blue Line for toxicity testing and that UNIFIL remains in contact with Lebanese authorities while awaiting results. The UN reiterated that the use of armed drones is unacceptable, called on all parties to respect the Blue Line, and stressed measures to ensure the safety of peacekeepers.
