Jennifer Womack, a member of the Sacramento City Unified Community Advisory Committee, invited special education families to the committee's meeting on Feb. 17 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Isidore Cohen Elementary.
The meeting is intended as a “safe space to meet with special education staff and connect with other special education families,” Womack said. She said attendees will be able to discuss extended school year services, summer programming and workability options and that local summer providers will be present.
“We offer free dinner and childcare,” Womack said, describing supports the committee will provide to make the meeting accessible to families. She also said the committee invited local organizations including UCP, Hooper's University and Access Leisure to attend and share information about summer programming.
The committee's announcement stressed direct engagement between families and special education staff. The recording of the announcement later includes a conflicting spoken place name—rendered as “Isildur Rowan”—but the earlier announcement identifies the site as Isidore Cohen Elementary. The committee listed Isidore Cohen Elementary as the venue when announcing the meeting.
The Community Advisory Committee meeting is scheduled for Feb. 17 at 5 p.m.; Womack encouraged interested families to attend.
