The Kentucky House on Jan. 22, 2026, adopted House Resolution 34 recognizing Jan. 22, 2026, as Kentucky Arts Day.
The clerk reported the resolution by title. Representative Burke and Representative from Payette spoke about the economic and cultural importance of the arts in Kentucky; the transcript records that the arts and culture industry "generates nearly $7,000,000,000 annually in Kentucky representing 2.5% of our gross domestic product and creating over 50,000 jobs across the state." Representative from Payette moved adoption. "No objection" was recorded and the resolution was adopted.
Earlier in the session, members toured an annex display of student art and representatives of arts organizations were recognized on the floor. The resolution acknowledges the arts as economic drivers, cultural resources and contributors to tourism and community development.
