Orem Planning Commission ratifies leadership, approves minutes and continues Rolling Sands Plat
Summary
At its Jan. 7 meeting, the Orem Planning Commission ratified Madeline as chair and Mike as vice chair, approved consent minutes for Dec. 3 and Dec. 17, and continued the Rolling Sands preliminary plat (1765 S. Sand Hill Rd.) to the Jan. 21 meeting.
The Orem City Planning Commission met Jan. 7 and handled several routine procedural items before forwarding a land-use recommendation to the city council.
Commissioners unanimously approved the consent agenda, which included minutes from the Dec. 3 and Dec. 17, 2025 planning commission meetings. A motion and second carried the approval by voice vote.
The commission ratified results of the ballots taken during the work session: Madeline as chair and Mike as vice chair for 2026. Staff had presented pre-printed ballots and counted them during the work session; the commission then ratified the outcome in the public meeting by unanimous vote.
The commission considered a preliminary plat titled Rolling Sands Plat (located at approximately 1765 South Sand Hill Road) proposing a flag lot. Because the membership and facts were essentially the same as at a prior hearing, a commissioner moved and the panel seconded to continue the item to the Jan. 21 planning commission meeting so a fuller commission can consider it.
The meeting opened with an invocation and closed at 5:41 p.m. after the planning commission forwarded a separate recommendation to the city council on the Johnson’s Farm rezone.
Meeting logistics and upcoming items: staff reminded commissioners the downtown consultant will present to the city on Jan. 27 (work session starts 3:30 p.m.; presenters asked to arrive at 3 p.m. in the Ponderosa Room) and that recordings of the meeting are being broadcast with a backup recording being saved.
