Board hears athletics update; members debate charging admission and equipment costs

Another board member noted that credit-card purchases incur a fee: "They charge them 4%." Dumasistris said the district now has a credit-card reader and will provide financial reports on event revenues and costs.
Members also discussed ways to grow youth participation in lower-cost sports and the expense barriers for equipment-intensive sports such as baseball and softball.
Next steps: athletic staff will provide cumulative event-cost and revenue data, and the board will continue discussions about admissions policy and potential outreach to increase youth participation in feeder programs.
