Raleigh County Commission approves routine items, recesses to executive session and records no binding action

At its Feb. 2 meeting the commission approved a tax roll correction and Jan. 29 minutes, recessed to an attorney–client executive session on personnel matters and stated on return that no binding action occurred.
The Board of Raleigh County Commissioners finished routine business and approved a tax roll correction and the Jan. 29 meeting minutes during its Feb. 2 meeting.
A motion to amend the agenda was made to replace the administrative work session with an executive session for attorney–client consultation; the motion named Jacob Hansen, county counselor, to attend. A commissioner moved that the commission recess to executive session for legal consultation regarding personnel matters and the Kansas Open Meetings Act; the motion was seconded and the chair recessed the board into executive session.
When the board returned to open session, a commissioner moved that the record reflect no binding action was taken during the executive session. That motion was seconded and approved. As recorded in open session: "no binding action was taken during the executive session."
Before adjourning, the board received updates from public safety and corrections officials and then moved to adjourn the Feb. 2 meeting by voice vote.
