During the legal section of the Feb. 3 work session, staff presented two transfer-student cases governed by district Policy 6.318, which allows denial of admission for students transferring while suspended or expelled (except students in state custody).
For the first case, staff reported the student had been expelled for possession of drugs; the director of schools recommended denial. In the second case, staff reported the student had been expelled for possession of a weapon and a dangerous object; again the director recommended denial under Policy 6.318.
The board did not take public action on these items during the work session; the presentations were informational and reflected the director's recommendations for denial of admission in both cases under the stated policy.
