The commission recommended council approval to vacate portions of Country View Road, approved a certified survey map to split a duplex lot, and heard staff updates on multiple development projects and the comprehensive plan timeline.
The Planning Commission on Feb. 2 recommended the Common Council approve several administrative and land‑use items and received updates from staff on current projects and the comprehensive plan timetable.
For Country View Road, staff explained a new alignment is being constructed and portions of the existing road are no longer needed. As part of the request, adjacent applicants will deed approximately 6.75 acres to the city to maintain access; the commission recommended approval of a vacation and discontinuance of about 5.0165 acres, effective on execution of a warranty deed. Commissioner Powers abstained from the vote and Commissioner Hernandez experienced internet connectivity issues and did not vote.
The commission also recommended approval of a certified survey map to split lot 1 of Harmony Hills Subdivision (110 and 112 Incheon Drive) into two conforming lots (approximately 8,700 sq ft and 5,700 sq ft) provided recording of shared‑wall/maintenance, ingress/egress and water/sewer easement documents.
In department updates staff reported on multiple active projects including a 60‑unit apartment at 1050 North Edge Trail, a tenant conversion at 201 Prairie Heights Drive, construction activity at 303 W Verona (Ian’s Pizza), public improvements at Avalon Ridge, Apex Phase 2 work and an annex building at 1079 American Way for a Wisconsin brewery. Staff said the comprehensive plan task force is reviewing a draft and expects to have a public draft in approximately two months.
