Bulloch County’s board on Feb. 3 approved several infrastructure and grant items unanimously.
The board moved item 8 out of the consent agenda into new business and then approved the EPD FY26 tire‑products grant for $250,000. County engineer Ron Nelson described the project as a competitive grant to place recycled tire "cylinders" and graded aggregate along about 0.58 mile of 5 Chop Road off Cleito Road and said the county would contract with a Peachtree City firm to install the material.
The commissioners also approved submitting a Georgia Department of Transportation Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant (LMIG) application for FY26 totaling $2,084,694.12. Nelson said the required 30% local match is $625,408.24 to fund asphalt patching and resurfacing on 12.7 miles of county roads (Williams Road, Josh Dale Road, Golf Club Road, Hightower Road, Timberline Road, West Drive, Allen Drive, and Timber Cove).
For a bridge replacement on Cypress Lake Road, the board approved task order FY26ROWE09 for $20,250 to secure right‑of‑way acquisition services affecting four parcels as part of the design and acquisition phase; Ron Nelson said the project is being designed by Heath and Lineback and is funded through FY25 local road assistance funds.
All three items were approved by voice vote with the board recording unanimous support. The meeting record shows no amendments to the motions and no recorded dissents.
The board also approved several consent items earlier in the meeting including a Victims of Crime Act grant for $104,453 and purchases/repairs for public safety and recreation equipment listed in the online packet.
