Page County Fair Board asks for at least $25,000 for siding, campground project

At a Page County meeting, Jason Witness, Page County Fair Board manager, and Carrie Gonder, Page County Fair Board president, presented the fair board’s projected FY26–27 budget and requested county support for several capital projects.

Witness and Gonder said the fairgrounds have completed roof repairs to the Cow Palace but still need siding work on Webb Home Hall and want to build a campground to generate seasonal revenue. They said the campground grant is for $18,000 but the estimated total cost is roughly $65,000–$70,000; the fair board asked the county to consider at least $25,000 to help cover capital work. The campground plan would place sites on the south side of the horse barn, with water and electric hookups and roughly 13–14 sites projected (the board suggested one hydrant could serve two sites to reduce costs). The presenters said there will be no sewer hookups and that the fair board hopes for donated trucking and volunteer work for rock/pad preparation.

Board members asked about existing funds and previous allocations: one member recalled a prior county contribution of $36,005 two years earlier, which fair board members said remains available for Webb Home Hall work and that prior bids for part of the siding had been in the roughly $100,000 range for the small side.

What happens next: the board said it is working on the county budget and would consider the fair board’s request during that process.
